It was a bittersweet weekend for the Long Beach women's soccer team as it again failed to sweep a series at home.

On Sunday, the 49ers maintained a one-goal lead to win against UC Santa Barbara, 2-1.

However, Friday afternoon Cal Poly rallied to score four second-half goals as the 49ers blew a first-half lead and dropped the game, 4-1.

The 49ers took the lead over the Gauchos in the first half when LBSU Sophomore defender Jenna Koontz passed the ball to  junior midfielder Jennifer Reott.   She scored when she smashed the ball off the right post and in the Gaucho's goal at the 17:56 mark. The 49ers went into the intermission with a one-goal lead for the third time this season.

However, The Gauchos answered in the second half to tie the score. UCSB's Beth Barbera kicked the ball past 49er goalkeeper Jihan Elgazzar into the right side of the net.

The 49ers responded with a goal by Koontz, who received a corner kick from teammate Kim Stempkowski and then drove the ball past Gaucho's goalkeeper Mary Gleason for the game winner.

The goal was Koontz's first of the season. Reott's fourth goal of the season made her the top scorer on the team.

Cal Poly visited LBSU at George Allen Field on Friday. The Mustangs ran over the 49ers giving them a record of 6-11 overall and 4-5 in Big West Conference play.

Once again, the 49ers scored first when Stempkowski scored on a penalty kick within the first six minutes of the game.

The 49ers again went into half time with a one-goal lead, but this time they could not hold it.

The Mustangs came into the second half with a vengeance. They scored four unanswered goals in route to winning game.

The 49ers will host Pepperdine University today at 3 p.m. at George Allen Field.
