After loosing the
season opener against the University of San Diego Toreros, the womenís
49er soccer team is ready to battle again.
The women's 49er
soccer team, was shut out Friday afternoon by the San Diego Toreros (7-0)
at George Allen Field. In its first game, the womenís soccer team
faced an offense and defense that could not be matched.
The Toreros ran
around the young 49er team with swift maneuvers, which led them directly
to the 49er goal.
Reaching their destination
was made easier by the absence of two LBSU defenders, who left the game
with injuries.
Vanessa Thiele and
Kendra Wales of the Toreros, each scored twice on the 49ers' back-up goalie,
freshman Jihan Elgazzar. By half time, the Toreros had a 4-0 lead.
Towards the end of the game, the 49ers appeared exhausted from playing
short handed.
However, donít count
out this young womenís soccer team just yet.
With four days to
re-group and practice, the team is ready to challenge No. 13 San
Diego State on Wednesday at George Allen Field at 3 p.m. |
