Cal State Long Beach students got more
from the Rolling Stone Rock and Roll Bowl than just bags full of freebies,
according to participating students.
"It's better than the previous events,"
said business management junior Kashus Perona. "It's fun to actually do
something."
The event had students boxing, playing
a music trivia game show, making music videos and mixing their own music
in front of the University Student Union Monday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Walters, who put
on a pair boxing gloves and joined students for a turn at beating up the
computerized dummies at the HBO booth, said "[the boxing match] was tiresome
and long." Communications senior Larry Henderson added that "it got a little
hot at the end."
The music trivia game show gave contestants
a chance to compete with other colleges across the country to win a Ford
Focus.
"It was something sort of fun to do to
break the monotony of studying," said Dave Hind, an English education graduate
student who won the final competition with teammate Adrian Ross,
a junior majoring in music.
Students enjoyed the musical trivia game
despite its difficulty.
"I just liked pushing the little button,"
said Erin Earlywine, a freshman majoring in marketing.
Karen Rosenberg, a freshman contestant
who is majoring in business, said that "they should ask some questions
from today instead of 1902."
Latisha Taylor, a freshman majoring in
biology said that "[the game] was hard because you have to know about all
the different categories of music."
Brave students also sang karaoke in their
own music video. |
