An accident involving a Cal State Long
Beach shuttle bus and a white sedan resulted in minor damage to both vehicles
Thursday morning. There were no injuries.
The campus shuttle was making a routine
stop in front of the Foundation Building on State University Drive when
a Mercury Sable rear ended it, said shuttle driver Tunji Bello, 27.
Brandon Jones, the driver of the Sable,
said he was looking for his girlfriend when the accident occurred.
"I was wondering what the hell I hit,"
Jones said. "My girlfriend is going to kill me."
The rear bumper of shuttle No. 921 was
dented and its side brake light was broken. The car's front bumper and
hood were dented also.
Bello said he had just dropped off three
students when he noticed the Sable approaching in his rear view mirror.
"He was going pretty fast -- I don't know
exactly how fast, but he saw the bus too late," he said. "He tried to stop,
but by that time, it was too late."
Jones, 19, said he was not speeding.
"I was only going 5 miles an hour," Jones
said. "I didn't even have my foot on the accelerator."
Jones was not cited on the scene, said
University Police Sgt. Madonna Gage.
"We can't just cite him now," she said.
"We have to do the proper research of the evidence to determine how to
cite him." |
