The Long Beach State womenís soccer team
won against Utah State, 1-0, and lost to the University of North Texas,
1-0, at home.
LBSU Head Coach Julie Cochran said she
is satisfied with how the 49ers played in both games.
"My hat goes off to the offense for getting
the goal," Cochran said. "And my hat goes off to the defense for holding
the lead."
LBSU faced Utah State and managed to keep
a one-goal lead to win the game.
The match was scoreless throughout the
first half, but the 49ers came charging back to win.
49er midfielder Jennifer Reott scored the
goal unassisted by driving between three Utah State defenders with less
than 15 minutes left.
Cochran said she sees the team's improvement.
"We played well. We're taking quality shots, quality chances to score,"
Cochran said.
LBSU faced North Texas at George Allen
Field Friday.
In the first half, the match again was
scoreless. However, the Eagles were determined.
Eagle Teresa Vise scored the winning goal.
49er goalkeeper Jihan Elgazzar had five
saves on 15 UNT shots.
Eagle goalkeeper Adriana Costanzo had eight
saves and rejected 26 shots from the 49er offense for her second shutout
of the season.
The 49ers had various opportunities to
score, but failed to convert. This was the fifth time they were shutout
this season. |
