Kane & Abel shameful

By Shreya Bhakta
Daily Forty-Niner

Kane & Abelís second rap album titled "Rise to Power" falls to shame.

The twin brothers fail to show any type of rap, singing, or writing abilities. One could have a hard time believing this duo could be the sole producers of this album.

The first few songs on the album are chaotic.

CD REVIEW: D-

The music is upbeat but the lyrics are horrible.

The only understandable lyrics were those involving curse words or negative references made about women.

Most of Kane & Able's songs don't talk about anything except money, having sex and power.

The first song on the album, "Rise to Power (Illegal Business)," is a complete mangling of a classic KRS 1 song. KRS 1's lyrics are the only redeeming qualities of this song. In fact, itís the only redeeming part of the album.

"Rise to Power" comes with a disclaimer, a brief audio parental advisory stating that anyone influenced by this album who may harm themselves, others, or commit illegal acts, may have a psychological problem and should seek medical attention.

And anyone who buys this album will suffer from psychological problems and should seek medical attention. Listening to this album will cause self-mutilation and permanent damage to your taste in music.

The repetitive, unoriginal lyrics lack any flavor and street credibility.

It's no wonder this album comes with a disclaimer stating that the views on this album are not necessarily those of the Kane and Abel.

The half black, half Puerto Rican twin rappers are a couple of college boys and not the streetwise gangsters they pose as.

Supposedly, they are an intellectual version street rappers, but their caveman lyrics prove nothing except that they are atavistic ignorant morons.

"When you pick up a Kane & Abel record, youíre picking up every part of our personality," said Abel in their press release.

The album reveals a complete lack of depth in their personalities.
