A.S.I. Senate seeks Smashmouth

Ozomatli is being considered as the opening
act for an on-campus concert and Blink 182 was given an extension to play
in that concert, Associated Students Inc. President Toby Sexton said Thursday.
Smashmouth had until 5 p.m. Thursday to
accept an A.S.I. bid to play at The Pyramid in November.
Sexton said the band was given an extension
until 5 p.m. today.
The bid was sent out to Smashmouth because
the band wants to hold a November concert.
If Smashmouth does not accept the bid,
A.S.I. will seek Blink 182 for a December concert, Sexton said.
The Daily Forty-Niner was misinformed after
Wednesdayís meeting. A.S.I. Administrator Robert Garcia said Blink 182
was being sought.
Later that day, Garcia learned that Smashmouth
would be bid on, instead of Blink 182.
"It was a communication glitch," Garcia
said about the misinformation.
If Blink 182 decides to accept the bid,
the band has two requests: The band wants the concert in December and the
concert tickets only be sold to students, Garcia said.
In other campus concert business:
-
The Long Beach Dub All Stars concert will
be today at the University Student Union.
The concert almost was all but sold
out, said Garcia, who expects more than 600 people will show up to watch
the concert.
-
A.S.I. plans to hold a disk jockey and break-dance
competition to be held in December, Garcia said.
