After being defeated at Hawaii and Pacific,
Long Beach State ( 8-2 overall and 1-1 conference play) has only one streak
remaining: 50 consecutive won matches at The Pyramid.
LBSU Head Coach Brian Gimmillaro said he believes
the competition against No.9 Santa Barbara and Cal Poly this weekend will
be difficult.
"These are going to be two good games,"
he said. "They (Santa Barbara) killed Florida."
Setter Keri Nishimoto re-sprained her ankle
during Tuesdayís practice and Gimmillaro said itís doubtful that she will
start tonight.
"We can run a better offense when Keri's
in," Gimmillaro said. ìIt's debilitating, she's been playing on a swollen
ankle for three matches."
The injury means freshman Brittany Hochevar
will have to carry the load.
"We have two losses too many," Hochevar
said.
LBSU faces UCSB tonight at The Pyramid,
7:30 p.m. The 49ers host Cal Poly this Saturday night at 7:30. |
