The Long Beach State women's soccer team had two more looses this weekend, one away and one at home.

On Friday, the 49ers  lost 3-1 in Las Vegas against the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. LBSU returned home on Sunday only to be shut out 2-0 by Fresno State.

"Our team defense was good, but weíre still unable to put the ball in the net," Head Coach Julie Cochran said.

After the disappointing loss on Friday, the 49ers came home to George Allen Field on Sunday to face the Fresno State Bulldogs, Cochran's former school.

The first half of the match was pretty quiet, although the Bulldogs did control the tempo of the game. The game was scoreless at the half.

The Bulldogs came barking back to score two second-half goals to win the game.

At the 49:22 mark, Jill Pearson scored from a left side cross pass by Virginia Jenkins. Fresno Stateís Aimee Thompson scored the final goal of the game unassisted with less then five minutes left in the game.

"In my eyes, the final score against Fresno State was one to zero, the other goal was sloppy," Cochran said.

The 49ers couldnít come back even though freshman goalkeeper Jihan Elgazzar had a career-high 10 saves, including two point-blank stops in the first half. The 49ers were outshot 28 to 11. It was the second-highest number of shots allowed by the 49ers. LBSU let the University of Pacific take 31 shots last season. The Bulldogs also had more corner kicks, 7-3, than the 49ers.

The 49ers have only scored seven goals in the nine games this season. This was the fourth time the 49ers have been shutout this season.

The 49ers went to Las Vegas with hopes of winning against a tough conference team. This game was also scoreless in the first half.

However, the Rebels came charging back in to second half scoring two goals in a one-minute span.  UNLV's Felicia Madrigal passed the ball to Suzanne Jensen who scored at the 60:18 mark of the game.  The second goal for the Rebels followed  at the 61:16 mark, when Rebels' forward Janae Sims scored on an assist by middle forward Anita Pedford.

The final score for the Rebels was also scored by Sims with just six minutes left in the game.

The 49ers tried to fight back, but it was too little too late. They managed to get on the board at the 86:25 mark of the game.

Freshman midfielder Erica Stone scored her first collegiate career goal. 49er goalkeeper Jihan Elgazzar had five saves while Rebels goalkeeper Shannon Wilson had three. The 49ers were outshot 16 to seven.

The 49ers will play two road games in Idaho this weekend. The 49ers will play Idaho on Friday, and they will face Boise State on Sunday afternoon.
