Magic wins with 'Thuggin'

By Shreya Bhakta

Magic's new album, "Thuggin," is better than expected.

His album can actually be understood! He doesnít yell or rap so fast that the words arenít clear. His lyrics are also realistic.

The compact disc starts with one of the best songs, "That's Me." The song stays in one's head the entire day with its great beat and Magic's smooth rapping.

The songs "Thank You Lord For My Life," "Do You Really Want Peace" and "Wanna Get Away" are examples of his ability to depict the world. The three songs are about God, the homeless and hurtful crimes.

On "Thank You Lord For My Life," he raps: "Forgive me for complaining so much ... I shed a tear, couldn't understand their (homeless) pain." In "Wanna Get Away" he raps how "two girls got raped and lost their virginity."

However, other songs such as "9th Ward," "Puff Puff" and "Freaky" are about money, sex, women, drugs and, of course, cursing galore.

Other songs such as "Party Time," "Wobble Wobble" and "Club Thang" make one want to go out and party. The uplifting, fun material is about clubbing, drinking and everything else that occurs in the night.

"Thuggin" included Master P, C-Murder & MAC, D.I.G, QB, Mia X, Silkk the Shocker, and Ms. Peaches. They created a unique style that was apparent throughout. The album was definitely enjoyable.
