The women's 49er
soccer team did not start the season the way they wanted to as they were
handily defeated by the University of San Diego Toreros 7-0 Friday afternoon
at George Allen Field.

The 49ers fell victim
to San Diego's experienced and balanced offensive attack as the Toreros
continuously moved the ball deep into 49ers' by zone exposing holes in
the 49er defense.
The Toreros repeatedly
put the ball past back-up 49er net-minder Jlhan Elgazzar. Vanessa
Thiele and Kendra Wales of the Toros both scored twice.
The Toreros scored
three times in 25 minutes to go into the half with a comfortable 4-0 lead.
"I was really disappointed
with our heart and effort," said 49er Coach Julie Cochran. "We showed
occasional signs of brilliance early on, but the rest of the time we were
just chasing the ball."
The road for the
49ers doesn't get any easier as No. 13 San Diego State pays a visit to
George Allen Field at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. |
