Editor's expectations
exceeded
When I first set foot
at Cal State Long Beach four years ago, I never thought I could be the
editor in chief of a university newspaper. But here I am, working with
a dedicated staff to put out a hard-hitting paper four days a week for
you, our readers.
I've been working
as a "reporter in-training" for almost two years at the Daily Forty-Niner.
Throughout that time, my classmates and I have struggled to crank out stories
minutes before a deadline, spent endless days in the newsroom we call the
"dungeon," and sacrificed precious nights and weekends to finish a story.
Every person on
the fall 1999 Forty-Niner staff, from the editors to reporters, knows all
too well the long hours and hard work that comes with working on a university
publication. I'm very thankful to be working alongside a committed, energetic
and hilarious group of people.
Continuing with the
newspaper's tradition, we want to produce a product that reflects the campus
community as a whole. Our staff hopes to actively encourage a constant
line of communication among students, faculty and staff.
