The direction of
the case for a former Cal State Long Beach employee charged with sexual
battery may be determined today, said Deputy District Attorney Leah Karr
during the Aug. 13 preliminary hearing.
Jerome Galvin Cruz,
28, who worked at the Parkside Commons dining hall, is charged with forcing
oral copulation and sexual battery by restraining an employee, the police
report said.
A two-month marathon
of postponed hearings may end today after the district attorney arrives
at a ěpossible disposition,î Karr said.
No other details
about the case are available at this time.
Cruz, who has pled
not guilty to both charges, has been in custody since June 25 when he was
arrested on campus at the Parkside Commons dining hall by University Police
after a fellow employee filed charges.
"The D.A. felt that
there was enough evidence," said Scott Brown, an investigator assigned
to the case.
No witnesses were
involved, Brown said. His bail is $70,000.
The preliminary hearing
is set to take place today at 8:30 a.m. at the Long Beach Criminal Court
on Ocean Boulevard. |
