Graduation check list

Think your going to graduate? Think again! If you haven't gotten started on the Graduation checklist you better get started soon.

  1. Take the English Placement Test and the Entry Level Math Test before your first semester or provide proof of exemption (Remember those?)
  2. Pass the University 100 course, if you were an entering freshman.
  3. Complete the General Education pattern of courses. See the Academic Advising Center if you are uncertain which General Education requirements apply to you. (Lunch 101 and Parties 120 do not fall under General Education.)
  4. Complete the requirements of your major. Read the Catalog and see a departmental advisor in your major. Program Planners are available in departmental offices.
  5. Choose and complete your electives to accumulate the minium number of units required for your degree (124-140 depending on your major). See the Academic Advising Center if you have any questions about electives.
  6. Complete at least 40 units in upper division courses (300-499) out of your 124-140 total units.
  7. (Have a scientific calculator ready for the next set of instructions) Finish at least 30 of your 124-140 units at CSULB. At least 24 of the 30 units must be upper division, and at least 12 units must be in your major. Count no more than 70 transferrable units from a community college toward a bachelorís degree.
  8. Pass the writing Proficiency Examination. The test is a junior- year requirement. Students in impacted programs should check with their department early for information about the test.
  9. File a request to graduate at Enrollment Services in Brotman Hall. Smile, you have to do this once, the services employees have to do it every year. Apply after completing 90 units and one year before graduation.
  10. Finish with at a least a 2.0 (C) GPA in all four listed in the CSULB Catalog.
  11. Count no more than eight activity units in one department, no more than 20 activity units total and no more than 24 units in extension credit -- excluding summer and winter sessions.
  12. Count no more than 24 total units Credit or No Credit (CR/NC). No more than 12 units may be upper division and no more than eight units of CR/NC may be taken each semester.
  13. Complete upper-division major courses within 10 years or have them revalidated by the major department.
  14. Just to close on a different number besides ě13î (obvious reasons!) Congratulations!!!!!.
