Alumni 50th Anniversary Special Photo Issue
December 13-17 1999

Letter From Photo Editor

I wanted to thank my photographic staff for their tireless dedication to this special In*Sight Alumni issue. Without their hard work, late nights and artistic strength, this project would never be complete.

Jason Steinberg, Garth MIlan and Cristian Vera Aleman and Greg Linsz traveled with, called, pushed and pleaded their subjects into giving them the timeless art that is the legacy of the Photojournalism department. After  rolls and rolls of film, thousands of images and more then one sleepless night, they have put together a showcase of their talent that can stand as a historical photographic section for years to come.

I also wanted to thank the Fall ë99 staff of the Daily Forty-Niner for their help and endless support in the completion of this project. From the copy editors, to the reporters who pitched in, the editors who stood back and lets us take over the newsroom in those final days of the semester , the business office who cleared the space, and the production team who kept their cool when we swore we only had one more page to go, I thank you for your patience and assistance.

The campus at large was also there to lend a hand in our project, from the Alumni Relation Department that provided the ground work for our graduate hunt, through the individual departments who added their recommendations and all the way up to the office of  Robert Maxon, University President, who assisted in funding the project. To these wonderful folks, I also extend my thanks.

But finally, it is the Alumni themselves, those included in these pages and the countless others to numerous to mention that we owe our biggest thanks for sharing their stories, their time and their lives with us.

We often forget as we rush from class to class that we owe; we owe those who have come before us, blazed the trails, fought the good fights and have set the benchmark for us to strive for.

We, as students, owe it to the Alumni of CSULB to follow in their footsteps, keep the tradition strong and bring pride to ourselves and our campus. We owe it to them also to set the example for the next generation, as they did for us.

We owe to them our thanks, not just for what they have done, but for allowing us to stand on their shoulders to raise the bar a notch or two higher for those who will follow along our path.

They have encouraged us, enlightened us, supported us and have inspired us to run a little faster, stretch our arms a little further and continue to reach for the stars.

To all of you I offer our thanks.
