Christine Whitcraft - PI

Christine is an assistant professor at CSULB who came here via Williams College, Scripps Institution of Oceanography (PhD), San Francisco State University and San Francisco Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (post-doc). Wetland ecology provides an opportunity for Christine to have a job and be outside at the same time!

Shira (Yoshi) Maezumi

Yoshi graduated in June 2010 with her Master's in Archaeology from CSULB. Her research focused on paleosalinity reconstruction in a local wetland. Congrats, Yoshi!


Emily Blair

Emily graduated in January 2012 with her Master's in Biology from CSULB. Her Master's research focused on food web development following active panting. Her undergraduate degree was from Univ. of Rhode Island. Congrats, Emily!

Rachel Wigginton


Rachel is a 3rd year graduate student in the Wetland Ecology lab, interested in aquatic stream ecology, mathmatical modeling and conservation biology. Her Master's research focuses on sparrow use of an invaded habitat. Her undergraduate degree was from Western Kentucky University.


Tania Asef

Tania Asef is a 2nd year graduate student in the Wetland Ecology Lab.  Her interests include working with invasive plant populations, genetics, and conservation biology.  Her undergraduate degree was in the Biological Sciences from UC Irvine.

Anastasia Shippey

Anastasia is a 2nd year graduate student in the Wetland Ecology lab, interested in restoration ecology and conservation biology with a focus on climate change impacts. Her undergraduate degree was from the Marine Biology program at CSULB.
