Jose M. Lopez is a Professor of Chicano and Latino Studies at California
State University, Long Beach. He received his Ph.D. from Claremont
Graduate School in 1982. Professor Lopez has been an active participant
in campus efforts to introduce multicultural dimensions into the curriculum.
He served on the President's multicultural task force that wrote an assessment
of these issues for CSULB and coordinated a program that brought leading
academics scholars to the campus for a lecture series. His publications
