My Education

California State University, Long Beach

Currently, I'm attending California State University, Long Beach or The Beach for short or Cal State Long Beach. Officially, I'm signed up for the Computer Science and Web Literacy minors but I'm planning to switch my major to Computer Science and drop the minor while taking the prerequisites for Nursing. I love The Beach though. It's a diverse campus where we can get opinions from a myriad of individuals from different amounts of culture. The classes that I take challenge me to be better in everywhere and I can learn things that I never knew existed (History class).

Also, I'm currently in the Phi Eta Sigma - Alpha Lambda Delta (PESALD) Honor Society trying out for the position of Historian and Web Manager. I used to be very involved with College Beat, the film club on campus and ASI Communications Street Teams which promotes campus events. Sadly, with work I've become really busy and it's hard to find any time to be apart of these clubs. However, the past couple weeks I'm scrapping time and trying to get more involved again.

Cypress Community College

I actually don't know very much about Cypress Community College except that they have a good scuba diving class and I'm really interested in taking that class there before I go to the Philippines next Winter. It was also be good to know and maybe go diving here every once in a while. However, if I choose to go here to take some prerequisites for Nursing than I'm going to take that class. Probably go here at night and take 2 or 3 classes at Long Beach in the day. Going to be interesting doing that though.

Golden West Community College

I also don't know very much about Golden West except it's right near Bella Terra and I have many friends that go there. I looked up some information about classes that I could take there in the summer. My girlfriend and I are interested in taking some sign language classes. At first we had the reason that it would be cool to know when we go scuba diving and would be a cool class just to take for fun. But, I looked up more information on a certificate they have because the certificate doesn't take too many other units in other courses from the classes that we already want to take. Maybe I would take a few prerequisites and do the sign language classes too. It's up in the air though right now.

Honor Societies

For the last year I have been at two schools, so it has been hard to get involved but I have made sure to keep in contact and make it to some of the events. Next year I will be just at CSULB and hopefully can make it to the meetings. I'm very excited about the activities and events planned.

I would like to thank my grandmother and my mother for pushing me and guiding me in the right direction. Also, for showing me the importance of these societies.

I was inducted into this Honor Society on September 2007 with a nice ceremony for all the inductees. I remember someone was running in with a heavy backpack on from a biology class which I thought was the model person to be accepted. There was great cake with a lot of great people and it made for even better meetings. I was excited and ready to get involved with the society and I signed up for a double position as a Web Designer and Historian. We had some great activities, the most memorable being a bonfire at Bolsa Chica.

National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS)

National Society of College Scholars Website

When I was inducted into the NSCS, the day of the induction, there were so many people that they had to hold two ceremonies because there were so many people packed in the room there were worried about the fire marshal. We were the second ceremony and it turned out to be a great ceremony with an inspiring speech at the end. Since the induction I have been unable to attend any meetings but my family and I were able to attend the AIDS Walk LA with them. My cousin Jarrett went with me and we was a trooper through the whole six miles.

Golden Key

Golden Key Website

I have to admit, the first time I was invited into this society I thought it was a spam letter and I went to the CSULB website's FAQ page and many people thought the same way. I was pretty excited to hear that I was accepted into a society that takes the top 15%. It really shows all the hardwork that I have put into my education all these years and the hard work that others have put into me. I have yet to go to any meetings or activities but I am really eager to start.
