Personal Website

Everyone with a valid CSULB Internet Account receives a 25mb website on CSULB's servers

To add content to your personal website you must first create HTML files on your computer. Once you have created the files you must upload them to CSULB's FTP server

Once you upload the files you can access your personal Website by going to http://www.csulb.edu/~username

If you need assistance with creating your personal website please contact us and one of our Support Representatives will assist you.

This tutorial will show you how to upload your documents to your CSULB Internet Account using Internet Explorer 5.x+ .

In order to follow this tutorial correctly, you MUST have a CSULB Internet Account .

If you're using Internet Explorer, type in the Username and Password in the boxes below to login.

Step 1: Click Start > Programs > Internet Explorer *

Step 2: Next to Address: Type in ftp://username@ftp.csulb.edu/
Where username is your CSULB Internet Account Username.

Step 3: After the Login As dialog appears, type in
User Name: username
Password: (e.g. a1b2c3df)
Click on Login after typing in the correct username & password.
If this dialog does not appear, click on File > Login As
Enter your Username and Password



Step 4: After logging in successfully, you'll see a folder named, HTDOCS * .
To open HTDOCS, + double click on the folder.
Select the htdocs folder




Step 5: After getting into the HTDOCS folder, you may simply + drag and drop the files you want to upload.
* Important : Your homepage must be named index.html (lowercase).
This file is displayed when a user goes to http://www.csulb.edu/~username/

You may also upload other documents in the HTDOCS folder, such as my_project.doc, To download this file, type in this URL (Uniform Resource Locator): http://www.csulb.edu/~username/my_project.doc
Drag your file to the window

After completing step 5, type in http://www.csulb.edu/~username/
then hit the enter key in order to make sure the page works.
