Academic Computing Services staff collaborate with faculty on their innovative projects through its Software Development Assistance Grants program. The following three projects exemplify this faculty-staff partnership program.


 

Virtual Oral/Aural History Archive Logo

VOAHA (Virtual Oral/Aural History Archive) Project

CSULB features the first Virtual Oral/Aural History Archive of its kind in the country. Visitors can access 300 hours of original oral history recordings with more to be added. And with the powerful search capabilities that have been developed, users can search for material across all 300 hours.

Physics 100A Real-Time Data Collection and Analysis

This project supports one of the largest laboratory courses on campus with over 1,000 students per year conducting real-time experiments, data collection and analysis. Using an OS X Server and FileMaker Pro software, students share their findings via a specialized website.

AIM Project: Activity, Instruction and Management

Kinesiology and Physical Education faculty are reinventing their HyperCard multimedia project, which was designed to teach preservice and inservice teachers about how to utilize class time when teaching elementary school physical education. The new AIM Project will incorporate a WebObjects-based application server, Oracle database and streaming media server to provide a visual, interactive media package accessible over the web.
