"Founders Day is designed to be interesting and stimulating for each of the different groups in the audience," says Michael Blazey, who serves as coordinator for the 18-month-long celebration. "We've had to tailor Founders Day in such a way it would appeal to all of those groups."

If it's sounds a little secretive, well, that's on purpose. "We want to get people to come to the event," says Blazey of the two-hour program, "but by the same token we want them to be pleasantly surprised when they get there. In a way it's the unwrapping of the university's 50th birthday present."

Entrances and seating at The Pyramid will be designated for the various campus constituencies.
Doors will open at 9:15 a.m. for alumni and community at the red entry on the north side, students at the gold entrance and staff and staff emeriti at the green entrance.
The event will start at 9:45 a.m. with a procession of the faculty and faculty emeriti in academic regalia from the North Campus Library to The Pyramid where they will enter the arena floor.
FREE ADMISSION AND LUNCH. For FREE tickets and information contact the 50th Anniversary Office at 562/985-4546. (Tickets are required.)
Following the program, a lunch will be served on the The Pyramid's east side lawn for all in attendance.
