Departmental Windows XP (LA5-349) (Lab Schedule)

Computers: Pentium 4 computers running Windows XP.

Software: SAS, SPSS, MiniTab, Matlab, Maple, C++, Microworlds, the Geometer's Sketchpad, etc.

Faculty may sign up online at

http://www.csulb.edu/depts/math/calendars.htm

for reserved use of the labs.

Math Education Resource Center (Lab Schedule)

The Mathematics Education Resource Center (MERC) consists of the Mathematics Education Mac and PC Computer Labs and the Mathematics Education Materials and Study Lab in a suite of rooms connected to LA5-253 (Liberal Arts building 5, room 253). The use of computer technology is encouraged, to some extent, in every mathematics education (MTED) course. Other faculty are also invited to visit to see if there are ways your classes could make use of our facilities. In addition, there are two pc laptop computers, two apple laptop computers, and two LCD projectors available for faculty to check-out for class demonstrations. Faculty may make reservations at

http://www.csulb.edu/depts/math/calendars.htm

for reserved use of the Resource Center. See a map of the Labs

Mathematics Education Macintosh Computer Lab (LA5-255)

The Mac computer lab has Macintosh G4 computers and a LCD projector. This lab can be used for whole class and for individual student work. Microworlds, AppleWorks (formerly, Clarisworks) and the Geometer's Sketchpad are installed on each Mac. We also have tutorials for learning about the operation of a Mac and for learning about Appleworks. Software for elementary and secondary school mathematics is also available for the Macs.

Mathematics Education PC/Mac Computer Lab (LA5-251)

The PC Lab has Pentium 4 computers running Windows XP and a LCD projector available for classroom demonstration and use.

Software: SAS, SPSS, MiniTab, Matlab, Maple, C++, Microworlds, the Geometer's Sketchpad, etc.

Mathematics Education Materials and Study Lab (LA5-249)

The Mathematics Education Materials and Study Lab can be used as a library with K-12th grade math textbooks, professional journals, and other resources, and as a place to do homework using the concrete tools that we use in the mathematics education programs. There are small sets of materials (such as base-10 blocks, pattern blocks, cuisenaire rods, Mira, etc.) available for individual or small groups of students to check out and use in the lab. The Lab contains tables for individual student and group work. We also have a VCR and a 27" TV monitor on a cart so that faculty can check them out for class use.

Math computer labs are coordinated by Dr. Tangan Gao, and staffed by 6 graduate assistants.
