Office of Economic Research & the 2013 Regional Economic Forum

On April 26, 2013, the Office of Economic Research hosted the first annual CSULB Regional Economic Forum at The Pointe in The Walter Pyramid. The forum replaced the former Regional Economic Forecast event, which was held for more than 20 years. Based on attendee feedback, the first forum was a success!

Following her presentation, a panel of local experts added insight into the travel and tourism and transportation and logistics industries. Steven F. Goodling, president and CEO of the Long Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau, talked about the role the newly remodeled Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center is playing in bringing both business and leisure travelers to the region. Jon Deusenberry, regional director of finance for the West Region of UPS, shared his perspectives about transportation and logistics and the challenges facing the region. The forum also provided valuable opportunities for current students in the Department of Economics. Students helped Stephens with data analysis and event day logistics. In return, they networked with local leaders.
