The California State University Board of Trustees named Timothy P. White as the seventh chancellor to lead the 23-campus CSU system, the nation’s largest four-year public higher education system.
He replaced Charles B. Reed, who served as CSU chancellor for 14 years. White had been UC Riverside’s chancellor since 2008 and formerly was president of the University of Idaho. He is a past professor and chair of the Department of Human Biodynamics at UC Berkeley and professor and chair of the Department of Movement Science at the University of Michigan.
White earned a bachelor’s from Fresno State, a master’s from Cal State Hayward (East Bay), and a Ph.D. at UC Berkeley.
