CSULB Again Excels in National Rankings

For the fifth consecutive year, U.S.News & World Report ranked CSULB the fourth best public regional university in the western U.S. in its annual America’s Best Colleges Guide.

Additionally, the campus was recognized for having one of the lowest student debt loads and one of the top undergraduate engineering programs.

Overall, CSULB ranked 28th among all colleges and universities in the western U.S. Among public institutions, it came in fourth again behind Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology and Western Washington University.

In the “Least Debt” category, CSULB ranked second lowest among regional universities in the west with 42 percent of its graduates leaving the campus with an average debt of $12,401, an amount that was 13th lowest in the nation among all regional colleges and universities. CSULB’s percentage of graduates with debt was seventh lowest among all regional colleges and universities nationally.

Finally, CSULB tied for 44th place among the best engineering programs in the nation at engineering schools whose highest degree is a bachelor’s or master’s.

CSULB’s U.S.News ranking joins other recent rankings including a Princeton Review “Best in the West” and No. 9 from Diverse Issues in Higher Education for conferring bachelor’s degrees to minority students.

Additionally, Victory Media named CSULB to its Military Friendly Schools list for the third consecutive year, honoring the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that embrace America’s military service members, veterans and spouses as students.
