Jose A. Carrillo (2000, B.S., medical microbiology) is an assistant professor of neurology at UC Irvine and treats patients with brain and spinal cord tumors. With his medical degree from Dartmouth and fellowship in neuro-oncology at UCLA, his research interests include translational neuroimaging of glioblastoma and advancing clinical trials for brain tumors. He resides in Long Beach with his wife, Melanie (Janks) Carrillo (1999, B.A., religious studies), and two daughters.
Timothy Mulvehill (2000, B.A., history) also earned a teaching credential from CSULB and an M.Ed. from Concordia University in Irvine. “Since 2001, I’ve had the privilege of teaching world history to some of Long Beach’s brightest and most talented students,” he said. ”I currently teach at Millikan High School, minutes from CSULB,” he said. “My wife, Sylvia, and I were married in 2006, and we enjoy sharing our love of travel and the outdoors with our son, Nick, who was born in 2010.”
Robert Nankil (2000, B.S., industrial design) is manager of product development at Architectural Area Lighting, a manufacturer of commercial and home lighting fixtures.
Gino R. Stumpo (2000, B.S., business administration–finance) is a Certified Financial Planner, first vice president–investments and head of the Stumpo Wealth Management Group at UBS Financial Services Inc. in Long Beach, where he specializes in retirement planning, particularly for aerospace employees.
Michael A. Anastasi (2001, B.A., print journalism) is the new vice president and executive editor of the Los Angles News Group, where he oversees its Southern California newspapers and digital news products. He was a managing editor of the Salt Lake Tribune.
Roland DGA Corp. promoted Fernando C. Catania (2001, B.A., art) to business development manager for Latin America, where he is responsible for expanding Roland’s UV inkjet printing and dental product businesses throughout the region. Catania has been with Roland since 1998.
Navy Lt. Thomas M. Corcoran (2001, B.M., music performance) and fellow sailors aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise formed a Coalition of Sailors Against Destructive Decisions committee, a peer-to-peer mentoring program that assists sailors in making positive decisions in all areas of their lives ranging from sexual assault issues to managing financial matters.
Kristy Forsgren (2001, B.S., marine biology; 2005, M.S., biology) is a postdoctoral researcher at UC Riverside, studying the effects of pesticide exposure on fish reproduction in San Francisco Bay and the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta. She earned a Ph.D. at the University of Washington.
The Hawaii Housing Finance and Development Corp. selected Stuart Kritzer (2001, MBA) as asset manager. He has more than 15 years of experience in public and private sector underwriting and financial analysis.
Mary Zendejas (2001, B.A., speech communication), who had polio as an infant, was selected as the 2012 Ms. Wheelchair California and was a runner up in the Ms. Wheelchair America contest. She has held professional positions with a variety of Southern California businesses and organizations and is founder of the DisABLED Professionals Association.
Markus Davids (2002, B.A., film and video production) saw his documentary “Boardroom,” about the history of surfboard shapers and manufacturing exhibited at this year’s Newport Beach Film Festival.
Adonna Khare (2003, B.A.; 2007, MFA, art) received the $200,000 top prize in the public voting segment of the ArtPrize 2012 competition in Grand Rapids, Mich. She won for her pencil mural, “Elephants,” in the national open-call competition that included artwork displayed throughout the city, judged by both public and juried voting.
Universal Republic Records promoted Myisha Brooks (2004, B.A., film and electronic arts) to vice president of publicity. The unit of Universal Music Group represents numerous musical artists including the Rolling Stones and partners with other labels.
Former President’s Scholar Jamaal Brown (2004, B.S., business administration–management information systems) founded the Black365 Knowledge Bowl Competition to encourage African-American high school students to study black history. He is a counselor at Antelope Valley Youth Build.
Kimela R. West (2004, MSW) joined the St. Louis, Mo., office of Husch Blackwell, an international law firm, where she practices healthcare law. She earned her law degree from Saint Louis University School of Law and is a former Los Angeles County deputy probation officer and therapeutic behavioral specialist.
Connie D. K. Lane (2005, BFA; 2012, MFA–ceramics) received the CSULB College of the Arts Distinguished Achievement in Creative Activity Award in ceramics at Commencement in May. She is a Long Beach artist and a former art director in the CSULB Publications Office.
The city of Santa Monica selected Jacqueline Seabrooks (2006, MPA) as its new police chief. She was chief of the Inglewood Police Department and previously served 25 years with the Santa Monica Police Department, eventually rising to captain.
Christopher M. Kilmann (2007, MBA) is co-founder and managing director of Kilmann Diagnostics in Newport Beach, which provides conflict management assessment software tools.
Tracey Hansen (2009, B.S., occupational studies) is chief of the Cosumnes Community Services District Fire Department in Sacramento County. She began her career as an emergency medical technician and paramedic and later a firefighter with the Elk Grove Fire Department.
Central Wyoming College in Riverton, Wyo., named Joshua L. House (2010, M.A., speech communication) as its new speech and debate team coach and instructor of communication. He previously taught at Pepperdine and Purdue universities.
Krysti Rosario (2011, M.S., kinesiology–sport management) is a former boxer and now is a judge and referee for USA Boxing and the AIBA International Boxing Association.
The M&A Advisor organization honored Teresa Hinojos (2012, B.S., business administration–finance) at its 40 Under 40 Recognition Awards event in July that acknowledged mergers and acquisitions professionals. Hinojos is chief compliance officer for Hunter Wise Financial Group LLC, an investment bank.
