Roberta Jenkins is a longtime friend to CSULB. She and her husband, Dr. Matthew Jenkins, established the Matthew and Roberta Jenkins Family Foundation. With a focus on the importance and advancement of education, the foundation provides numerous scholarships across the country to deserving students and provides support to African American students. A graduate of Tuskegee University, Jenkins received her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition, and she completed her graduate studies at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. At CSULB, she completed the Meeting Planners Certificate Program.
Jenkins is vice president and secretary of the Matthew and Roberta Jenkins Family Foundation. She serves on the advisory board for Legacy Ladies and on the board of directors for the Children’s Museum of La Habra, Long Beach Symphony, MIND Research Institute, Long Beach Museum of Art and St. Mary Medical Center. Additionally, she is a member of the CSULB Board of Governors and a member of the Carillon Society, which recognizes donors who have made substantial contributions to CSULB. Jenkins has almost two decades of involvement with Claremont Graduate University as a member of the Board of Visitors of the School of Education and has been involved with the Urban Math Collaborative advising non-profit community organizations.
Jenkins has received awards from Claremont Graduate University; the NAACP; the Links, Inc., Harbor Areas Chapter; the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education; the Tuskegee University Alumni Association and is a recipient of the Fredrick Douglas Heritage Award from Tuskegee University; and numerous other organizations and institutes.
