Lecturer Faculty Responses to the Executive Summary

Spring 2006 Campus WASC Survey Report

A total of 186 lecturer faculty responded.

WASC Theme 1: Institutional Effectiveness

Lecturer faculty indicated their top priorities as establishing strategic priorities, creating a vision, and solving problems, with at least one-third of faculty ranking these as their first or second priority.

Other priority areas needing attention chosen by lecturer faculty under Theme 1 include:

  • Employee voice / rights
  • Communication
  • Community goals

WASC Theme 2: Staffing for Effectiveness

Fifty-two percent of lecturer faculty ranked adequate salaryas their highest priority; the next highest ranked topic was supporting instruction.

Other priority areas needing attention chosen by TTT faculty under Theme 2 include:

  • Affordable housing
  • Rewarding good performance, employee recognition
  • Professional Development, opportunities for growth
  • Collaboration

WASC Theme 3: Student Success

Lecturer faculty indicted their highest priority as improving instruction; next highest was student motivation.

Other priority areas chosen by lecturer faculty under Theme 3 include:

  • Helping students master knowledge and skills
  • Preparing students for lifelong learning
  • Preparing students for employment and graduate school
  • Attending to student learning outcomes
  • Student writing and communication skills
