SOLCHA is the newly funded Sociedad Latinoamericana y Caribeña de Historia Ambiental. Here you can find links to previous meetings and some proposals for the future. SOLCHA was first conceived at the Simposio de História Ambiental Americana, in Santiago do Chile, in 2003. It was created on the second Simposio de Historia Ambiental Americana in La Habana, Cuba, in October 2004.

The appointed president of the Sociedad is Guillermo Castro Herrera, from Panama, and in the following months SOLCHA was legaly constituted with its headquarters in Panama. Finally, in Sevilla, Spain, in April 2006, the first official meeting of SOLCHA occurred at the III Simposio Latinoamericano y Caribeño de Historia Ambiental/III Spanish Meeting of Environmental History, hosted by the Spanish Section of European Society for Environmental Histoy (ESEH).
