SOLCHA is the newly funded Sociedad Latinoamericana y Caribeña de Historia Ambiental. Here you can find links to previous meetings and some proposals for the future. SOLCHA was first conceived at the Simposio de História Ambiental Americana, in Santiago do Chile, in 2003. It was created on the second Simposio de Historia Ambiental Americana in La Habana, Cuba, in October 2004.

The appointed president of the Sociedad is Guillermo Castro Herrera, from Panama, and in the following months SOLCHA was legaly constituted with its headquarters in Panama. Finally, in Sevilla, Spain, in April 2006, the first official meeting of SOLCHA occurred at the III Simposio Latinoamericano y Caribeño de Historia Ambiental/III Spanish Meeting of Environmental History, hosted by the  Spanish Section of European Society for Environmental Histoy (ESEH).

La Sociedad Latinoamericana y Caribeña de Historia Ambiental (SOLCHA) se complace en convocar a la comunidad académica y científica interesada en las interacciones entre los sistemas sociales y los sistemas naturales, y en las consecuencias de dichas interacciones en la evolución de la naturaleza y las sociedades humanas, al V Simposio Latinoamericano y Caribeño de Historia Ambiental, que tendrá lugar del 15 al 18 de junio de 2010 en La Paz, Baja California Sur, México, con el auspicio de la Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur.
