Assembly of Candidates

Group of faculty

Candidates will be directed by Commencement staff to the line-up area at the Central Quadrangle. You must arrive at the assembly area at least 60 minutes before the starting time of your ceremony.

A rehearsal for candidates is not conducted. You will receive directions from Commencement officials who have planned and rehearsed. Please give them your attention for instructions.

At the assembly area, faculty marshals wearing gold stoles and student ushers wearing Commencement shirts will organize the processional lines. In the line-up area for the processional, candidates will line up two-by-two behind the sign designating their department.

While standing in line, candidates will fill out cards with their name, degree, and address. These cards will be used by the name readers as the candidates are called forward to receive their degrees and by the commercial photographer to send picture information.

The entire procession will be led to the Commencement site by the Grand Marshal carrying the University Mace.
