BeachID Password Manager

beachid-wgw

Faculty and staff will soon have fewer campus passwords to remember.

In August 2011, the BeachID Password Manager will replace the campus's current password management system. The new system will allow employees and students to maintain one password for many university systems they're authorized to access.

When your college or campus unit migrates to the new @csulb email system, you'll be directed to activate your BeachID password. (Colleges and campus units will be migrated on a phased schedule beginning in September. As soon as the schedule is finalized, it will be made available.)

Until you migrate to the new email system, you may continue to use your current MyCSULB and BeachBoard passwords, except as described below:

  • If you forget or have difficulties with your current MyCSULB / BeachBoard password, you'll need to activate your new BeachID password.
  • New faculty, staff, and students will be required to activate their BeachID password account.
  • Common Finance System (CFS) users will be directed to activate their BeachID password according to their 90-day password change requirement, and in many cases may need to do so before migrating to the new @csulb email system.

Questions?

If you have questions about the BeachID Password Manager, please contact ITS Service Management.

After establishing a BeachID password, you will use that password to log into campus computing resources you're authorized to access such as:

Computer Resources Affected

  • MyCSULB
  • BeachBoard
  • BeachNet campus wireless
  • Your campus computer (unless it is maintained COE, CCPE, the Foundation or the 49er Shops)
  • Campus parking system
  • CFS
  • Virtual Private Network (VPN)

The new BeachID password will not affect access to the campus Student Administration or HR systems. Authorized users will continue to log directly into these systems they currently do.
