Volunteer Parking Instructions

Note: Please allow up to one week to process your Volunteer Parking Request form. Your department must complete the request.

A volunteer is an individual whose primary relationship with the university is to perform a service in support of a university program or activity with no promise, expectation, or receipt of compensation for services rendered to the university, auxiliaries, or third-party vendors. Active faculty, staff, and current students are not eligible for volunteer status.

In order for a volunteer to receive campus parking privileges, your department must complete the following steps:

  1. ​The ASM (or department approver) provide the volunteer with the Volunteer Agreement. This is completed by the volunteer and the information is used to complete the volunteer spreadsheet. The ASM/Appropriate Administrator (Level 4) must also submit the spreadsheet listing all volunteers to HR Support Services (HRSS) at HR-IS@csulb.edu. An ID and “volunteer” status in PeopleSoft is required to obtain parking privileges. It can take up to three days for this process before the ID is created, and assigned at which point the volunteer should create their Beach ID account. Once this process has been completed by HRSS, you will be notified by email.

    Note: If an individual already has a Beach ID due to a previous relationship with the university, departments will still need to add the individual to the volunteer spreadsheet being submitted to HRIS. Please allow an additional two days from the dates of the ID being assigned by HRSS for it to become active in the parking system.
     
  2. Next, please complete the Volunteer Parking Request Form [PDF]. Both ASM or department approver and volunteer must both provide signatures.

The Volunteer then brings the completed Volunteer Parking Request Form to Cashiers in Brotman Hall to register their vehicle. The volunteer will need to have a valid driver’s license or other identification card and license plate number to complete their transaction in the parking system. If the vehicle does not yet have the license plate affixed, the last seven digits of the vehicle identification number should be used.

After the parking account is created and the volunteer sets up their Beach ID, it is the volunteer’s responsibility to update any vehicle information via the CSULB mobile app or at parking.csulb.edu.
