The TAP Hardship Fee Waiver program (Long Beach Transit only) was created in order to ensure that CSULB transportation services remain inclusive to all students. Eligible students will receive a $40 transportation fee waiver for unlimited TAP services during the current fall semester.
We have postponed the first day of sales for Fall Semester 2019 Parking Permits until Friday, August 9, 2019, to allow eligible students to take full advantage of our waiver program.
If you plan on utilizing this waiver program, please review the eligibility requirements below and refrain from purchasing a fall 2019 TAP pass until your fee waiver application can be processed as no refunds will be provided. The deadline to receive all Hardship Fee Waiver applications will be Sept. 15, 2019.
Eligible students will exhibit a financial assistance need based on the current financial aid criteria. Qualified students will receive a full transportation fee waiver for the current fall semester. Through this program, the $40 fees for transportation using Long Beach Transit will be waived for individuals who meet the following financial aid eligibility criteria:
- Have filed a FAFSA or DREAM Financial Aid Application
- Have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) amount of $6,000 or less
If you meet the above criteria, you may apply for the TAP Hardship Fee Waiver program. If you will be applying for the waiver, please do not purchase your fall 2019 TAP pass until your waiver application is reviewed and processed, as no refunds will be provided.
Students who do not meet the minimum eligibility requirements may purchase unlimited TAP services through the university at 75% off the regular Long Beach Transit student rate. Those who have participated in the program in the past may purchase the pass on the parking portal. First time participants must visit the Cashiers Window in Brotman Hall in order to obtain the TAP sticker and sign the program terms and conditions.
How To Apply
Fill out the online Hardship Fee Waiver application. Users will receive a confirmation email upon receipt.
Each application will be reviewed in the order that it was received and an email will be sent to the student informing them if they meet the minimum financial need requirements. Please allow a minimum of 5 business days for application processing.
If approved, existing TAP users will receive an email confirmation that their TAP services have been activated. Individuals new to the TAP program will receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to visit the Cashiers Office in Brotman Hall to purchase the required TAP sticker for a one-time fee of $5.
Separately, there is a Long Beach Promise transit proposal in the city budget to assist Long Beach Promise students who utilize Long Beach Transit. We are looking forward to working with the city after their budget is adopted in September 2019.
