Warhol: 15 min/24 fps

I feel I’m very much part of my times, of my culture, as much a part of it as rockets and television. — Andy Warhol (1)

His famous edict that everyone would enjoy fifteen minutes of fame in their lifetime is a testament to his investment in looking, and his prodigious output of Polaroids, black-and-white photographs, and screenprints is his legacy. On exhibition was a selection from a portfolio of 102 Polacolor Polaroids produced by Andy Warhol from 1974 through 1985, from the UAM’s new acquisition gifted by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts; the Silver Clouds installation; and screenprints from the "Suite of Athletes" series on loan from the Hammer Museum; and private donors, including The Witch, 1981.

Museum Handout (below left) with essay by Dr. Karen Kleinfelder, Professor + Head of Art History Program, CSULB; Available at the UAM, or CLICK HERE or on the image to download pdf with the essay.

Gallery talk by Dr. Karen Kleinfelder was filmed the evening of the opening. To listen click on the middle image to launch a Quicktime movie, or purchase the DVD (image on right) from Shop UAM.
