Centric 66: Alice Könitz
November 2- December 19, 2004Centric 66: Alice Könitz is the German-born, Los Angeles-based artist's first solo museum exhibition that includes sculptures, collages, and a video projection, which together address issues of sunlight and sculpture in architecture. An investigation into the relationship between the viewer, sculpture, and film as well as the play of light within its spatial context, this group of diverse works is an expression of the artist’s fascination with the built environment in nature and offers a reinterpretation of the UAM gallery space. This exhibition was accompanied by a brochure complete with illustrations and a critical essay by former UAM Curator of Exhibitions Mary-Kay Lombino.
Centric, which began in 1981, is an ongoing series of exhibitions dedicated to introducing the University Art Museum audience to work by individual artists that have not previously been shown in the Southern California area.
