CONTRIBUTIONS

YOUR GIFT

We serve the campus and the community thanks to numerous grants, gifts, and contributions. The university provides funds for salaries and some building maintenance. The staff of the UAM must raise all of our program funds. Your gifts insure that we can provide our signature thought-provoking exhibitions, outreach programs to the Long Beach community, and training opportunities for the next generation of educators, artists, and arts professionals.

We cannot thank you enough for all of your past and future generosity. It is the enthusiasm and support of all our friends and supporters that encourages us to create and present groundbreaking contemporary art projects. We have included, for your information, our list of donor recognition activities as tokens of our thanks and appreciation. PDF

There are many ways to give—outright gifts of cash; stocks and bonds; real estate; purchase of items from our wish list; purchase of artwork for the collection; in addition to the gift of your time as a volunteer. An easy way to make a contribution is to follow the link below to our online contributions page. Your gift will go directly to the UAM.

You can direct your gift to any of the many museum programs.

Exhibitons

We generally present three – five exhibitions each year. You can choose to support one of our exhibitions or a year’s program. We look for funds to cover installation costs, airline tickets for visiting artists, honoraria for special speakers, catalogue publication, banners, advertising, and framing/construction of displays, to name a few items. Our menu of options for the 2013 – 2014 season is posted here. PDF

Education Programs

We offer numerous education programs that enhance understanding of our exhibitions and the broad spectrum of contemporary art. You can choose to support one of our outreach programs to K-12 schools; workshops, panels, and gallery speakers; printed materials; art supplies; publicity; and special events. Our menu of options for 2013 – 2014 is posted here. PDF

Student Assistants and Fellowships

Students play an important role in museum operations. We offer a range of student experiences in every museum department, which will enhance their career opportunities. We provide training in basic office procedures, exhibition installation, research, grant writing, museum practices, collections management, and gallery touring, to name a few learning opportunities. You can choose to support student assistant salaries for a day, a week, a special program, or a full year. Our menu of options for 2013 – 2014 is posted here. PDF

LEGACY GIFTS

Major and Planned Gifts (for UAM)

The University Art Museum depends on private donations for support of its art collection development, capital improvements as well as endowing curatorial and educational programs. Your gift can be made now or over time with the creation of a gift plan.

There are three funds which need your support:

•The University Art Museum Program Endowment. Your gift of $25,000 or more can create an immediate named permanent fund that will support continuing programs for years to come.

•You can permanently endow a position in the Student Fellows Program. A [Your Name] Endowed Student Fellow can be established for $125,000 for an annual one-semester permanent fellowship or $250,000 for an annual two-semester permanent fellowship.

•The University Art Museum Building and Maintenance Fund. Your gift of $25,000 or more will support much-needed improvements to the Museum facility and entryway. The Fund will also provide permanent continuing support for building, lighting and equipment upgrades, which is so vital for a museum.

Not all gifts need to be made with immediate cash. Gifts that arrive in the future are called planned gifts. You might wish to consider establishing your endowment with a gift from your will our trust. CORPORATE GIFTS

Invest in the next generation of educators, arts professionals, and cultured citizens. Help support the exhibition and education programs at the UAM that serve both the students of CSULB and the K-12 classes in our community. Exhibitions and outreach programs are free to all CSULB students and K-12 classes attending programs at the museum. Students learn about the breadth and variety of contemporary art and see projects that cross boundaries between visual arts, technology, science, music, and popular culture. Students participate in gallery tours, panels, workshops, and special events. University students, serving in positions and as interns, help shape museum programs that are presented to the public.

Make a Difference

About 40% of the student population at CSULB is the first in their families to attend college. In the county of Los Angeles, about 46% of our youth under the age of 18, live in poverty, surrounded by high crime rates, low income, and high unemployment. Arts programs foster critical thinking skills, build self-esteem, and train young people in the kind of creative thinking that employers are seeking. Because of the recent history of budget cuts in all education programs, museums have stepped in to provide exposure to the arts absent from many public schools. In addition, museum programs encourage lifelong learning that affects all ages.

Partner Benefits

Corporate Partners at the $2,500 to $10,000 levels receive recognition and opportunities for managers and employees to become involved in the museum’s remarkable exhibitions and education programs. Benefits include complimentary family admission, invitations to VIP receptions, and the opportunity to rent the museum for private company events.

Gain Exposure

Corporate Partners can also benefit by partnering with the museum for special events. Opportunities range from in-kind donations to major contributions of $10,000 to $75,000 to sponsor large-scale fundraising galas. In-kind donations and sponsorships provide unique elements to events, offset costs for the museum, and offers visibility for your company within the Long Beach leadership community.
