Staff Council Meeting Minutes
Friday, December 11, 2008

  1. Call to order at 8:39 am, no quorum. Quorum reached at 8:52 am.
  2. Approval of Staff Council Agenda for December 11, 2008 – approved.
  3. October 10, 2008 minutes – correction - Laurie Glumm’s name misspelled.
  4. Approval of Staff Council Minutes for November 14, 2008 – approved.

Announcements

  1. Charleen Rice – Cart parade tomorrow. Contact Marlys Sams x58247 for parade participants. The parade will start at 10:45am leaving from Facilities. They will need assistance decorating the cart this afternoon between LA 2 & 3. Charleen thanked everyone for the lamp. Also gave thanks to Pat West for all of her contributions to Staff Council and Pat was presented with a Peach Tree throw. Pat is retiring at the end of the year.

Committee Reports

  1. Membership -Berta Hanson -No new members today.
  2. Special events – Colleen Ryan - Thanks for contributing to the Cherishing Children’s Party for foster children. One hundred and five kids signed up and 70 showed up. The CSULB Men’s and women’s volleyball team came to the party. Also, the President Alexander came to the party. The party had food, crafts, Santa, and they played games.

  1. Treasurer - Charles Greenwood– November started with 6,048 collected $200 from Spooktacular raffle. We spent $406 spent for Spooktacular supplies. Ending balance 5,842.
  2. Ways and Means – Charles Greenwood – Holiday Raffle today.
  3. Bylaws – Sharon Olson – no report.
  4. Staff Development – Nancy Green not here. Lunch-n-learn last one went well small group of people. March – tour of KJAZZ. Feb. 11th – Wardrobe Coordination Raffle 8:57 am

  2. Academic Senate – Barbara Sinclair - They are still working on GWAR and working on technology projects.
  3. Charleen Rice – Sbarro’s will have a soft opening before the end of Fall semester. The Grand opening is scheduled during the Spring 09 semester. The water fountain in the courtyard is being repaired.
  4. Aaron Elimelech – During finals week there will be a variety of services for students. Massages, free meals for first 100 students, and discount tickets. Today at 11am there will be a Kwanza celebration in the USU - Ballroom A.
