Recognized the outstanding staff member for 2006 Jim Long. He was surprised with a presentation as he is retiring this month after 30 years. He started as a Technician I in the Music Department, working with the piano tuner. He was originally housed in the university telecommunications building, which was the music building then, it was very small. The music building was built and they moved into the new facility. About 1981 or 1982 Jim got involved with the Staff Day event. He was one of the original members of the staff day event, when it was a full day event. He has chaired the event and over the years he has been a staff council member, been MC for many events, and supplied music to so many of our events. A plaque was presented with the dates 12-20-76 – 12-31-06; and a gift of a wireless microphone. He has many projects lined up at home to work on.
