Welcome

Welcome to the home of CSULB Cricket Club (CCC).CCC is associated with Sports Recreations for cricket activities on campus. Cricket is a popular internationally played sport, played with a ball and bat very similar to that of baseball. Cricket games last for 2 to 8 hours depending on the format played. The average game played in Southern California lasts for about 6 hours made up of one innings per team. An innings consist of 40 over’s comprised of 6 balls each, so a total of 240 balls, barring no illegal balls are bowled. A team consists of 15 players comprising of 11 on field and 4 reserves. It utilizes lush green fields similar to that of base ball. The major differences to baseball are, the batting team (team 1) gets to bat out their entire innings in one sitting, while the other team (team 2) bowls (pitches) for the entire innings. Once the batting team’s innings is complete, it is the turn of the other team (2) to utilize all 11 batsman and the entire innings allotted to reach the other teams score. A team should utilize the entire innings and all 11 batsman to score as high a score as possible, if they are “bowled” out before the allotted innings the second team comes into bat, even if there are overs remains. A core difference to baseball is that each batsman gets one chance to bat but can bat for as long as they are able to until they go out (bowled, run out or caught) or run out of balls.

CCC was founded in 2005 and revived in October 2007 on demand from many interested students. With this inspiration we entered into Southern California Winter League and achieved noticeable success. Last year, out of 52 weekends we played cricket for 35 odd weekends either on Saturday or on Sunday with various teams, on variety of grounds and with different formats of cricket. This year we are participating in Summer league, Winter league and private matches with CSUF, UCI, USC, UC Riverside comprising 40 games to be played every weekend.
