Our Purpose

The Student Historical Review is an annual historical journal publication written, edited and produced by undergraduate and graduate students from CSULB. The organization's aims are the following:

  • showcase quality historical scholarship and writing
  • introduce students to the dynamics of professional publication standards by undergoing rigorous fact checks, editing and following critical reviews, with the goal of strengthening their historical porse
  • encourage students through review from scholars at CSULB as well as the greater historical community
  • foster original research and historical conclusions.

The SHR offers students an opportunity to have their historical research published and to be involved in the production of those publications, thereby promoting an early entrance into the field of historical writing and research.

If you wish to contribute a paper, see the History Department Office in FO2. Fill out an SHR application, and submit both your paper and the application to the office staff.
