1) Connie passed around a flyer for "End-Dependence Spoken Word Tour." The event will take place at CSULB on Saturday, Oct. 11th, at 7pm. The flyer doesn't say where at CSULB the event will be taking place so ... sorry. The cost is $5-10 (sliding scale). You can also contact Maya Chinchilla for more information at 415-516-9686 or go to www.brownpride.com

2) The ASI Conservation Commission is having a RECYCLING COMPETITION with a $500 CASH PRIZE. How to participate: bring in recyclables to the recycling center on campus (I think it's on Merriam Way off Atherton) during hours of redemption operation. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, 10-4:30, Saturday 9-2. All materials brought in will be weighted, recorded, and given a certain amount of points. The points scale is as follows: mixed paper 5pts per lb., cardboard 10pts per lb., aluminum cans 15pts per lb., #1 PETE plastic bottles 5pts per lb., #2 HDPE plastic bottles 5pts per lb., glass bottles 2pts per lb., cell phones are 30 points per phone. If you have any more questions concerning this you may contact Dana Lebental (ASI conservation commissioner) at dlebenta@csulb.edu or 562-985-5241. FYI: WE NEED THE FUNDS!

3)For anyone who is on the club ORC list and plans to do some event planning you must attend a Scheduling Workshop or take the Scheduling Certification Test. "New Officers and Major Event Committee Chairpersons should attend the Program Planning workshop, which also offers Scheduling Certification." You must register with the Student Life and Development Office, USU-206 562-985-4181. The last day to register is two days before each scheduled workshop. FYI: they only have 18 spaces for each workshop. The workshop schedule is as follows:

that's it folks! Once again, I apologize for the delayed email and hope to see a lot of you on Sunday in Hollywood.
