Campus Progressive Meeting - Notes 10 November 2004, Connie

Attendance: Ena, Angelica, Terry, Michael, Lemya, Allison, Jose, Nikki, Connie

Q- why the minutiae & the meeting notes?
A- for the sake of transparency

Agenda:
-Report Back on our last event, the 11/8 Film Screening: 4th World War
A few months ago, Uduak heard about the documentary on KPFK 90.7fm and called to see when it would screen in LA. The voice on the other end of the line said there wasn’t an LA show yet and would he like to be the LA screening? Uduak said yes and the rest is history.
-150 people showed up for the film
(not shabby considering we only had 5 days to promote the event! Thanks to BeachBoard, many thousands of students saw the announcement)
-We raised about $160 and even got a lotto ticket. J Add that to the $100 we have in our club account and it should cover the $250 we needed to fund the event.
-Directors Rick Rowley & Jaquie Soohen led a lively discussion in between screenings & were able to sell some merchandise & copies of the film. They are apart of a radical film collective from NYC and are currently touring SoCal.
-Thanks to Uduak, Ena, Allison, Lemya, Asia, Yehuda, and everyone else who helped promote (flyer, email, word-of-mouth, etc!) & help table!!!! It was one of our biggest events ever.
-The film itself was supposed to inspire activist solidarity & to remind us that there are many compadres and social movements on the global scale even if we don’t see ourselves represented in the mainstream media. Thousands of little individual acts have collectively changed the course of empires….Don’t give in or give up!
