1. Conscientious Objector (Aidan Delgado)- It iis official...NEXT WED (3/16) Delgado will be speaking from 2-4:00pm in the Multicultural Center as part of the 2nd anniversary of the invasion of Iraq event taking place. PLEASE help flyer, Connie sent out an email with the flyer and there's a bunch in our cubicle space. Also, later that night from 7-9:00pm there will be other speakers promoting peace in the Sunset Lounge (this portion of the event is co-sponsored by us and MSA).

2. PowWow- 35th annual pow wow will be taking place this weekend: 3/12 from 11am-10pm and 3/13 from 11am-6pm in the Upper Campus Quad....admission and parking are FREE...come out and support!

3. T-shirts- Debbie emailed Elisa regarding the t-shirts for us and she said that they have been ordered...so stay tuned for these!

4. Anti-Rec Center sentiments from REPUBLICANS- Elisa attended a Republican's meeting and apparently the people who were there are in agreement with us about the Rec Center and she's looking into getting some type of statement or something.

5. Film Festival- This Monday (3/14) is the last film in the series we are showing this semester on campus. Its called Chavez, Venezuela and the new latin america and was directed by Che's daughter, Aleida. BTW we've gotten like $200 for these events thus far so PLEASE help flyer, it would make Alison very happy!

6. KPFK- Lisa and Nick met a KPFK show host that is interested in coming to one of our meetings to discuss starting up a campus radio show that focuses on education issues. Nick will look into meeting with AIDE since they would be a good org to allign with and he'll keep us posted.

7. "Dry in the Mouth"- Yehuda (Progressives member) contacted Elisa and wants to show us a short film about the Palestine/Israeli conflict that he wrote, directed and produced. Next meeting we will discuss when would be a good meeting date to see this film, so bring your preferences.

8. Maria Guardado- Salvadorena women who was tortured by CIA squads would like to come (along with director) and show a film about her ordeal. They proposed showing it on April 18 (Mon) or 19 (Tues) at 11:00am, so think about which date works best for you and we'll discuss in future meeting if this will work out.

9. Hip-Hop event at the Nugget- Nick was thinking we should have this event on either April 3rd or 10th (both Thurs), but will actually get back to us on this since he will try to incorporate the Poets' Lounge/Spoken Word into this event since they have things going on on Thursdays. Also Nick was thinking that we should fundraise during the event...he thought we could hold a raffle and give away books, movies, cds, etc...so bring ideas to next meeting.

10. Radical Cheerleading for 3/19 Rally- Michele and others girls will be meeting during the next week to practice a routine for the Protest Rally in Downtown on 3/19 (Sat) re: Anniv of Invasion of Iraq. They will be dressed in black and purple and its a Coed squad so contact her if interested.

11. Carpenter Center- the ASI is going to stage a demonstration on April 1st (Tues) at 8:00pm in front of the Center in protest of its preferential tx for outside organizations that bring in lots of money as opposed to for student events. Contact Zahra about this.

Other announcements:
Surgeon Gino Strada will also be on campus on 3/16 at the Library (5th floor) presenting his book/diary Green Parrots re:antipersonnel mines from 6:30-8pm.

Alison will look into bringing Norman Finkelstein, son of Jewish halocaust survivors, who has written books that critically look at the Palestinian/Israeli conflict and other related issues. BUT he is rather expensive so she will keep us posted.

Keep on working for justice....so that we may be at peace,
Ena
