Urgent Protest Action Vs. Arroyo
Philippine “President” Gloria Macapagal Arroyo (GMA) is presiding over the United Nations (UN) summit in New York! Join BAYAN USA – Southern California on Thursday, September 15, for a noontime picket at the Philippine Consulate.
WHAT: Picket to Oust GMA
WHERE: Philippine Consulate, 3600 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90010
(between Harvard & Kingsley)
WHEN: Thursday, September 15, 12pm-1pm
Just three months ago, the infamous Gloria-gate tapes were uncovered showing that GMA committed electoral fraud by asking Elections Commissioner Garcillano how she could guarantee the election by a million votes. Not only is her presidency a fake, but her military and police have committed over 4,000 documented cases of human rights atrocities including murder, torture and kidnappings. We cannot allow her corrupt administration to continue ruining the lives of millions of Filipin@s. She is attending the UN summit and world leaders forum from September 12-15 and will be the first Filipino leader, the first Asian head of state and the first woman leader to preside over a summit of the UN Security Council. The UN should not recognize GMA’s presidency and instead should hold her accountable to the political and economic turmoil she has caused. Just like her war-waging buddy George W. Bush, GMA has got to go!!

*Sept 24th ANSWER protest against colonization in Haiti, Iraq, Palestine…on Olympic and Broadway from 12-4pm? Call 323-464-1636 or visit answerla.org Act Now Stop War End Racism! Prior to the actual event, on Olympic and 9th st. at 11am help staple signs, also if you’d like organize a carpool. Get word out, post fliers, bother Elisa for particulars (haytmayl@hotmail.com)

*Open invite from Bob to participate in the protest at Fort Bening, Georgia against the training of Death squads at the School of the Americas (Hemisphere for Solidarity), at the end of November, one weekend b4 Thankstaking. The base has for too long, prepared soldiers to invade their own countries in surrogate of our influence for counter-insurgency, counter-terrorism, torture, assassinations, and stealth operations, or just to train for brutal crowd control policing against NAFTA/CAFTA/FTAA rejectors. Bob went to county jail for 3 days for expressing his beliefs, but if you commit to this task you may face 3-6 months in jail for climbing a fence or crossing the line at the base. There will be a teach-in for some 2500 students prior to the event. A bill to close army camp will force the training into the underground more pernicious, and unacceptable in contrast to crossing the Army lines. Camp is growing as Bob said in his post-Chiapas uprising ex: from 6-1000 soldiers. Fare possibly $300, plus hotel, or stay in Long Beach until event, or just wander around Georgia for a few hours before you become a radical. If in LB, possible opportunity for black mask peace vigil. Bob will keep us up to date, contact him at Brophy@csulb.edu or reach him in his office at Macintosh building room 317 TTH 10-11am (or 11-12?) nearby elevator.

*Guido book suggestion-Rogue Warrior, about infiltrator into Navy Bases revealing US insecurity against terrorism

*Jeb book suggestion- Hideous Dream, about US soldier kicking manufactured death squad opposition party FRAP in Haiti’s ass.

*Solidarity Newsletter, turn in manifestos, submit articles, causes, news, editorials, contribute any work that you have a background in. WE NEED TO INVENT deadlines. Turn into Connie at cpham7@csulb.edu. Uduak has a sister that works at a newspaper and may aid with the template. Any ideas? That’s the idea!

*UN World Peace day, day of recognizing potential for global disarmament, wed. sept.21st Endorse? Yes/No? Abstain? Let Connie know. Jeb brought up UN Haiti murders, and I would like to remind everyone that the UN aid program for Hutu fugitives post Rwanda genocide at Goma camps in Zaire was disgusting. But can we get passed that to enjoy a day of disarmament or should we snub anything to do with the UN. Your calls.

*Haitianaction.net for Kevin Pina release story.

*Beach Clean-up Saturday 9-12 in Long beach junipero? Ask the conservation commission and bring troth for leftover food so we can feed someone who needs food. Suggestion was homeless shelter on PCH/Pacific (or Anaheim/Pacific) like a food bank. Or just engorge yourselves and fast for a few days afterwards.

*Chris DJing in Catalina when? Contact revolution87@gmail.com Check him out if it all pans out.

*Constitution Day Thursday, sept.15 in USU 306 Thursday 11-1215pm. Dr. Noble better bash the constitution, Because if he doesn’t (waving fist).

*Elisa told off a girl named Kara. Good for you!

*Campus Republican accepted donations for rounding off the dead from the 9/11 Bush attacks by selling flags. Half of proceeds went to Red Cross, and the other half?

*Dana Roerbacher interview with Jeb available (ask Jeb)

*Something about Pollack

*CP hosts-Debate/Discussion on Iraq. Suggested open mic night, come up with nifty name for the spoken word. All access for anyone willing to vent their opinion for some 2 minutes. Possible guest speakers, or professors to be booked. Any suggestions? Dr. Kaskla should have some fun things to say.

*A little different but possible debate between Campus Progressive v. Campus Conservatives

*34 Katrina displaced students, mixer at Nugget Thursday sept.15th Pollack sent out something, someone check on this event or just loiter at the Nugget all day.
