- PALESTINE EVENT: WHY YOU SHOULD BE CONCERNED
- Rally 11:30 AM at the Pyramid and march to the Speakers Platform
- Noon - Panel at the Speakers Platform with our very own Prof. Sherna Gluck, Dr. Karenga, and activists Michel Shehadeh, Samera Sood, and Dr. Fredrick Bush.
- We helped sponsor the event with the Muslim Students Association and the Anti-War Coalition!
- To learn about the current Middle East situation, raise consciousness, and help establish a presence. Help to pass our flyers about Campus Progressives at the info table if possible.
- VENEZUELA MARCH
Sat. May 18, 2002; Noon at the LA Federal Building on Wilshire. Come and support the Venezuelan people in this moment in their tumultous history. More details to come...
- HAPPY MAY DAY!
Today, the CA Labor Council (think: our faculty unions) held a luncheon at the Speakers Platform in support of International Workers Day. It seemed to attract quite a bit of people. Happy May Day!
- MUMIA TEACH-IN
The Mumia Student Coalition is presenting a teach-in next Tues, at 12:30pm, USU-304. The speaker will come from the Stolen Lives Project, a coalition against police brutality. Also, the group will have a bus going up to San Francisco for the big Mumia March on May 11. 20 people are confirmed to go. Tickets roundtrip are $30. - May 17-19 there will be a union organizing conference put on by the AFL-CIO. Anyone who is interested must fill out an application. Visit www.organize.aflcio.org.
- March and Rally in support of the Venezuela People, Hugo Chavez, and the Bolivarian Republic - Los Angeles, May 18th, 2002 - 12 noon @ the federal Building 11000 Wilshire Blvd.
- Long Beach Food Not Bombs meets Sundays at Noon at the Long Beach Community Infoshop and serves food at about 3 PM.
