Campus Progressives Meeting

- GLOBALIZATION CONFERENCE WRAP-UP
Guesstimate: 200 people showed up, many e-mail addresses were taken.
Members were very happy that we pulled this event off. Most agreed that there are a few areas for improvement for next year's conference but overall this years first conference went well.
- MILITARIZATION OF THE CAMPUS EVENT
Next Tuesday, April 23rd, event to get ALL military out of the universities. Everything from research to ROTC. The museum of Intolerance will also be there. It will be from 12-2 on the Free Speech Platform. Inez from UC Berkeley will be speaking on the militarization of the campus, UC and Cal State.
Consensus was obtained for April as moderator for this event. Flyers will be on the desk Monday 4/22 to be put up.
- PALESTINE
The Muslim Student Association in connection with the Progressives will be having an event on Palestine on May 2nd from 12-2 at the speakers platform. An organizing meeting will take place next week, most likely on Tuesday.
- EXPERIENCE
John, a member of the Senior University and a 1960s-to-present activist spoke for a short period on his experience in WWII and his activist past.
- EVENTS:
- A Long Beach Harbor Rally - Monday, April 22, 12:00 noon.
- May 17-19 there will be a union organizing conference put on by the AFL-CIO. Anyone who is interested must fill out an application. Visit www.organize.aflcio.org.
- March and Rally in support of the Venezuela People, Hugo Chavez, and the Bolivarian Republic - Los Angeles, May 18th, 2002 - 12 noon @ the federal Building 11000 Wilshire Blvd.
- Long Beach Food Not Bombs meets Sundays at Noon at the Long Beach Community Infoshop and serves food at about 3 PM.
