It was consensed to change our e-mail list serve from yahoogroups to riseup.net. This is to avoid the ads while at the same time supporting a non-profit organization.
- Labor Event
We are putting on the National Student Labor Day of Action tomorrow, April 4th. It will be from 12 - 2 PM at the Free Speech Platform. GO! And show your support!
- War Times
This is a new newspaper that just came out, speaking against the war. We are going to bring it to campus. (www.war-times.org)
- Globalization Conference
Organization 101 meeting Saturday to plan the workshop. We are going to get quarter page ads in the Union and 49er. Come to the office and pick up flyers so you can help litter the campus with them. Banners and Posters are also being made. Come at 9 AM Friday morning to make a paper banner with Emily. Nina has offered her house (and possibly her mother’s wonderful baking) for a final GC meeting on the 13th. Tabling will be done on Thursday and Monday from 11-2. Come help table!
- Deconstructing The Military Machine
April 23rd event to get ALL military out of the universities. Everything from research to ROTC. The museum of Intolerance will also be there. It will be from 12-2 on the Free Speech Platform.
- Organization
Work on structure and build foundation for the club. GET MORE PEOPLE TO GO TO MEETINGS! This is an ongoing key factor and will be brought up at every meeting until we are satisfied, which will be never.
- ACLU Long Beach
Racial profiling at Airports event in May. Planning to be done.
- Announcements
$500 dollar scholarships for students who have GPA's of 2.0 or higher and are members of clubs! Go to AS office for an application.
- Events:
- The Conference on Globalization: April 16, 12 - 8 PM, USU Multipurpose room / Ballroom and other rooms.
- Howard Zinn will be speaking in Newport Beach on April 19th for $18. More info will come later.
- Long Beach Food Not Bombs meets Sundays at Noon at (the place formerly known as) A-Occasions and serves food at about 3 PM.
