Campus Progressives Meeting
2/27/02
- Facilitator - Jim
Notetaker - Bjorn
- Globalization Conference:
We are possibly going to get $2500 but we only need $2000 for the conference so far. There are only two workshops left open to fill. Next we have to do outreach and get a venue for the night. A meeting was proposed for a Saturday of organizing for the conference at someone’s house. Make a party of it. Email any books/movie/literature you have for the conference to the list. Bjorn will be responsible for it.
- Election:
Liberal Arts needs people to run for senate. We think there needs to be progressive liberal arts majors to vote for us and get us money. Basically be a progressive tool or money wrench, whatever you want to be.
- Benefit Show:
At the community infoshoppe formally known as A-Occasions there will be bands playing to benefit the taco bell boycott. It costs $4 and starts at 8pm.
- Organization Card:
Next meeting a group of people will be going to take the test for ORC to get Step Certified. You can be one of them if you show up. This means you will be able to do all the bureaucratic work we all love so much.
- Debate:
It went fine. Uduak moderated as Peter Mathews and a Libertarian debated. Not many people showed up.
- Events:
- Howard Zinn will be speaking in Newport Beach on April 19th for $18. More info will come later.
- Long Beach Food Not Bombs meets Sundays at Noon at (the place formerly known as) A-Occasions and serves food at about 3 PM.
