Campus Progressives Meeting
2/13/02
- A Debate:
Sam Hall, campaign manager for Democratic Congressional candidate Peter Mattews, came to speak about Peter's campaign and ask the Progressives to sponser a debate between him and the incumbent Congresswoman Juanita Millender-McDonald. We consensed to sponser it and it will take place on Tues. Feb. 26.
- Globalization Conference:
- Jim will make up a flyer and bring it next meeting, when we can keep it or make suggestions.
- Funding - estimated budget $3800. Jim is bringing the budget to the appropriate ASI committee for approval.
- The Green Party has asked to sponser the event. We'll consense on that next meeting.
- We have two open workshops to fill, it was suggested that one be put on by us since we are organizing the event.
- Government Spying Petition:
The ASI Senate will decide to adopt, or not, this petition next week at 3:30 in the senate chambers. Support would be good if people are able.
- Speakers on Campus:
The Muslim Association in LA is willing to bring in speakers to campus. Jim will meet with Mona to discuss further details.
- Newsletter:
Currently Uduak is trying to install software. Articles can be submitted on history, current events, book and music reviews, reports from demonstrations to csulbsolidarity@yahoo.com. Deadline for articles will be March 13. Next meeting we can discuss who specifically is willing to write what.
- Events:
- There is going to be a Student Peace Action Network conference on the weekend of Feb 16th and 17th at the Claremont Colleges. For info/ways of getting to and from the conference e-mail Jim.
