Campus Progressives Meeting

- "Campus Progressives" is soon to be officially approved.
- National Right of Return Conference discussed again. Michel Shehadeh, the West Coast Regional Director of the American-Arab Anti-Descrimination Committee, attended the meeting to help us organize for next year.
- It will be held during the weekend of the third or fourth week of September 2001, on Friday, Saturday, and Friday. (21-23 or 28-30) [Correction: the date will actually be October 5-7, 2001]
- On Friday, people will begin arriving from in and out of California to stay in motels/hotels so we will have the multi-purpose room open for reception and orientation.
- The conference will begin Saturday morning at about 9 AM, lunch will be provided, and at night ethnic food will be provided.
- Sunday there will be panel discussions, workshops for activism, and feedback till 5 PM.
- We may need to link up with organizations to pull this event off such as the Arab Student Association, the Muslim Student Association, LB Peace Network, LB City College, the Mumia people, etc.
- We will have speakers such as Edward Said and Noam Chomsky along with other European speakers and hopefully some progressive US politicians.
- We expect to bring 800 to 1000 people, plus CSULB students.
- Some members went to listen to Congresswoman Maxine Waters after the meeting.
- Events:
- Protest against the Death Penalty. (Sat, May 19?)
- Peace Network Meeting. (Fri, April 20)
